Episode 114: The Vision Of Escaflowne

Vision Of Escaflowne

Vision Of Escaflowne

This week, it’s The Vision of Escaflowne! In this series, a girl is whisked away to a planet called Gaea, a world of robot mecha and divining powers.

Kittyhawk and the Chu take over this episode and a lot of passion for the show, both positive and negative, comes to the surface. Things become heated for a moment, but we’re all cool in the end.

This episode may have some of the longest stretches of audio in which neither Ben nor Neil say ANYTHING.

Episode 113: Our Favorite Cartoon Themes

Big City

Rockin’ you like a hurricane!

Boy, this was a project in the works. Ben and I are joined by Kittyhawk and Pablo as we each deliver our top ten favorite animated themes of all-time.

What counts as a theme, you ask? Well, it can be an opening theme, a closing them, or even a music score. We lay it all out for you and give you a look into our personal musical tastes.

Come taste the podcast.

Discussed:
From now on, like your parents were…
The Old Cartoon Network: Sodomy Allowed!
Genndy got away with some shit!
Yu Yu Hakusho: The Brazilian Cut!
It’s like Whitney Houson on crack!

Mario’s nightmare: can’t stomp enemies
Yoshi is an idiot
Thin Luigi
Princess Toadstool’s Popeye arms
Blame it on King Koopa
Creepy pasta
That’s a spicy meatball!

Episode 111: Sakura Wars OVA

Sakura Wars

Sakura Wars

This week, Ben and I watched Sakura Wars. For the first time ever (for this show), I watched it with the subtitle track, because I didn’t realize I had an English track available. Oh well.

This is an anime about an acting troop that also fights monsters by piloting steampunk mech water heaters. Based on a dating sim/tactical RPG for the Sega Saturn, this series features a cast of eligible women (and one bro). Cute characters. Fun story. Awesome theme song.

It’s Sakura Wars!

This also happens to be our shortest show in quite a while, so if you’re aching for more audio content…uhhhh…listen to episode 35 of Retrunauts, where they talk about the Saturn. Shut up! You can never get too much Saturn!

Segata Sanshiroooooo!!!!!!

Bonus Episode: Technical Difficulties

Due to some unforeseen difficulties involved with our cartoon music themes episode that should have been released last week, we’re presenting you this week with a special double-length episode in which Ben and I brainstorm about upcoming episodes. Ben and I also talk about writing characters and adapting them for different mediums, and we trail off-topic a lot. (No shock, there.) We even talk about Dasien for a bit! Dasien almost took over our humble podcast!

The second half is us discussing the fan series Star Trek: Phase II. Set phazers to Shake ‘N’ Bake. This one’s gonna be a hoot!

Topics:
Upcoming episodes.
Weird superhero costumes.
Gay characters.
I used to be such a letch. What happened?!
Nazareth wrote the best dick song ever
Neil’s rendition of a typical episode of 2 Stupid Dogs
Star Trek fan wankery
Songs that are literally about wankery
Not mentioning anything that starts with “S” or ends with “onic”
