Better late than never, right? This episode was recorded all the way back in July and got delayed for reasons that are no longer clear.
As such, a lot of what we say may no longer be relevant. We had a lot of criticisms of early episodes, and I can’t say if any of our criticism have been addressed, because I haven’t watched it since then.
That said, joining us for this episode is Abby Lehrke and Kittyhawk!
And now, the cavalcade of derp faces!
Oh, how hopeful you all sound in this. Too bad that SMC hasn’t gotten any better, in fact it’s gotten worse. Not only is the animation still shit (it’s not just derp faces, but also the stiff movements and the fact that all the characters have constant “dull surprise” faces, especially Usagi), but also the changes from the manga make the story worse. Usagi cares way more about Mamoru than her friends and everything seems to focus on their romance. I’m hoping that now that Venus has joined it’s gonna go away from the romance a bit.
Oh, and the Dashcon people haven’t paid anyone back so far and seem to do anything in their power to blame anybody else for the disaster that was Dashcon. And they learned nothing and are gonna do another con next year, but with a new name.

Good episode. Sadly, yes, the show animation did not improve
Toei is going back and reanimating the series.

Your diagrams have shown what I have poorly articulated about a major weakness in anime through it’s vast history. Anime artist cannot express proper facial emotion the way American animators effortlessly expresses in cartoons.
