This week’s guests are Kittyhawk and the Chu! It’s Ah! My Goddess!…or is it Oh My Goddess!?
Well, whatever you call it, it’s a show all about a tech nerd who gets a goddess girlfriend by mistake. And then stuff happens. And there are pretty girls. As Chu would say, why else are you watching Ah My Goddess?
Ben and the guests talk about the anime series, the movies, the OVAs, and even the comics. I sit quietly for most of the podcast, because I had seen very little. But I did enjoy the eye candy, so I suspect you will, too.
Discussed
The main guy isn’t a loser!
The Goddess Help Hotline
Chemical castration
Goddess of cock block
Adventures with a rat
There’s that car alarm again
Explosions happening off-screen
The Bedtar
Ok, the first face is so creepy and the brainwashing is just mess up. I probably won’t be picking this up LOL!
I still like this series. Liked both TV seasons and reading the manga from Dark Horse made me get into reading all the other stuff out there. The spoilers from Kittyhawk about the recent goings on kinda floored me, but I guess its par for the course in this medium.(We’re about a volume or so behind in the American releases)
I’m not gonna defend the block they put on Keiichi’s mind when it comes to Beldandy. Not at all. It is a massive violation of his human rights.
I am gonna come at it from their point of view. You end up giving this guy his wish and you don’t put in anything that makes sure that he cannot abuse, sully, or otherwise mar the beautiful woman you are tying to him who has power over his world? You don’t, as a prideful race of higher level lifeforms that are not human, do something to mitigate the lesser human urges of such a creature? You don’t find a way to cut off the side of him more like a chaotic being than like a being of order?
During the last arc this is in, they went ahead and pointed out to him graphically(as he shook with fear)that they aren’t human. Neither demon nor goddess, despite looking the way they do are human beings. And thus I saw the rub. Their morality, many times, has gone way over the line when it came to meddling in the affairs of the beings they oversee.
Yeah, I saw this coming a mile away. There’s always fine print, especially when it comes to magical contracts. (“Yeah, she’ll be with you, but no one ever said you were married or equals with all of the perks that come with either.”)
