Episode 136: The Lord Of The Rings Trilogy

The Lord of the Rings

Today, we look at The Lord of the Rings animation trilogy. Combining films produced by both Rankin Bass and Ralph Bakshi, the trilogy loosely tells a story in three films that apparently Peter Jackson is going to tell in six.

As usual, we give our thoughts on what we like and what we don’t. Two movies are worth a watch. One is not. I’m sure you know which one.

Joining us on this ride through insanity is Kittyhawk, and Pablo drops by later in the show! Yep, the gang’s all here for this spectacular jaunt through Middle Earth.

We also have a MAMMOTH pre-show, the longest ever, in which we talk about the bullshit that is Platinum Studios and their acquisition and subsequent destruction of Drunk Duck.

And oh yeah… Cowboy And Aliens can eat a dick!

SHUT UP!

And thanks guys, now that Bilbo song is stuck in my head. Gah.

I’m glad and also surprised that Coffman gets to do Hero By Night again. You’d think the suits will keep a stranglehold on that title. And speaking of suits… I’m kinda worried now. I agree with Kittyhawk about not accepting any sort of contract that might screw you over, seeing as how all these corporate raiders are all over the web now. Geez

  2. I just started watching Attack on Titan, thanks to Kittyhawk (only on ep. 2. My friend did a 12 epsiode marathon last weekend, holy crap!). I have to agree with her, I think it speaks to the younger generation as a very effective, hopeless social commentary. There’s so much we see going wrong politically, environmentally, socially ā€” pretty much in every realm of our known being ā€” it feels quite hopeless to fight to make things right again. But we want to, and I think we will continue to. Stories like this might be able to help us keep going, even if there’s no hope of success. I’ll be watching more of it, but am anxious for the dub to be released (isn’t Funimation set to dub it next year?), because while I like the Japanese voice actors, I’m usually doing something else while I’m watching, so it can be difficult to concentrate on both. I’m getting old.

Warning: I’m may be a pest and comment more later šŸ˜›

No, that’s called being normal. That’s my thing, too. I need to be able to look away from the TV screen. Subtitles require a commitment I can’t give.

      More comments! BRING IT!
