Episode 84: Robin & The Dreamweavers

Robin & The Dreamweavers

So much worse than we could have ever imagined.

Yes, it’s here at last. Robin & The Dreamweavers. The darkest chapter of the Lou Scheimer legacy. This “movie” was brought to you by man who gave us Fat Albert & The Cosby Kids, Groovy Goolies, Faux Busters, Pinnochio & The Emperor of the Night, He-Man, and She-Ra. As it turns out, this isn’t a movie at all, but rather a very poorly made premium channel pilot. Much like the Gen 13 pilot, Robin & The Dreamweavers was doomed to a fate of obscurity upon completion. (That is, until the internet set it free!)

We’re joined this week by Kittyhawk and Trevor Jay. We had to steel ourselves to power through this thing. A couple of us didn’t make it. But for the most part, we’re unscathed.

By the way, please send in your Naga laughs! HO! HO! HO! Information at the beginning of the podcast.

  1. The Robin and the Dreamweavers discussion was a letdown. There was too much, “And then this happened. And then that happened. And that happened.” It was difficult to follow and I felt like I was missing out on all of the references and jokes for not having watched the material. I was hoping for a discussion surrounding the generalities, and it veered more into the conversation between old buddies that no one is in on but them and everyone listening just thinks it’s not that interesting. However, the extra part of the show was enjoyable.

Amazing Spider-man is probably not going to be that good. I agree with your comments about the scenes in the trailers. I thought the same thing about the casting of Martin Sheen as Uncle Ben…bad, bad, bad. On the other hand, I’ve had some reservations about The Dark Knight Rises, but I think it will be a solid movie. Chris Nolan can make good movies. If he and his brother had a hand in writing the script, it will be a solid effort. I have faith in it. The TV spot I just saw looks pretty good too. But Avengers set a high bar that I don’t know that any other summer blockbusters will meet. It could have been a disaster, but Marvel nailed it. Whedon nailed it. And people are still going to see it.

    • Tim, you would have been just as lost if you had watched this movie. The reason why it was difficult to follow is because it doesn’t make any sense.

      • Oh, okay. 🙂 It sure sounded like a mess. So that’s basically how the movie was…just a bunch of disjointed ideas smashed together to make one mess of a movie?
