  1. What is your opinion of Wolverine and the X-Men? I am enjoying X-Men: Evolution quite a bit and Greg Johnson and Craig Kyle were the head writers for each series. I just got through Day of Reckoning (season 2 finale) and they definitely kicked the series up a notch with the events that transpired. I had taken a break from it because I checked out Wolverine and the X-Men and I found it much more appealing. I finished the series and I believe I would rank it as my favorite X-Men series to-date. That animation style was very appealing as well. Originally I was turned off by how large Wolverine’s arms were, but I found that I began to like it. I just like the designs of the series. The only complaint as far as character designs was Cyclops in the trench coat, but that wasn’t all bad. I’m interested to hear your thoughts.

The reason I bring this up is the talk about the X-Men cartoons from the potluck and other episodes. X-Men from the 90’s may not hold up well as far as the animation, but I enjoyed the stories. I’m not at all familiar with the comics, really, so maybe that’s why I forgive those faults. But I really like the voices they picked for the characters. Not the voice actors, the voices. Bishop was great. I liked Magneto. Cyclops. Beast. I recently watched the entire series on Netflix and I found it to be entertaining. I enjoyed it and that’s not nostalgia talking. I did watch it when I was younger, but I only caught it on occasion because by that time I was out of high school and not really watching cartoons on a regular basis. I’m not trying to persuade you to like it. I actually enjoy listening to Ben and Neal rip it apart. The episode where you sparred with Mike Blanchard over it versus Evolution had me laughing out loud. It’s worth a second listen it was so good.

    Keep up the great work!

    • I’m still slowly working my way through Evolution. I haven’t even touched Wolverine And The X-Men, yet. On the surface it looks good, so we’ll see.

My stance on nostalgia is that it’s perfectly acceptable if you can keep your feet on the ground. We’ll always be okay with someone who says that they like a program in spite of its faults. Both Ben and I have favorites of our own that are like that.

Yeah, I found the X-Men side-by-side episode to be rather humorous, myself, especially after Blanchard jettisoned all objectivity from the discussion. It just became a riot after that.

Speaking of whom, I caught something while editing the New Frontier episode (episode 48). Blanchard made a passing comment that will come back to bite him in the butt in a future episode. I can’t wait to record THAT one.
